It is used to play, download, and organise digital audio and video on personal computers running the OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The iTunes Store is also available on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.
Through the iTunes Store, users can purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks, podcasts, movies, movie rentals in some countries, and ringtones, available on the iPhone and iPod Touch (fourth generation onward).

Go Live Time
Normally, releases go live within 24-27 hours in both services simultaneously.
Important Note: a random percentage of releases go through an internal iTunes review process, which can take up to 16 business days from the day they are received by the store.
If your release is placed in iTunes' content review, unfortunately, it will take longer than the normal 24-72 hours to go live. We can't speed up the internal iTunes review process. If you have a required release date please make sure that you distribute your music more than 16 business days in advance of the digital release date.
